Dawn Industries buys Hendrickson, will move production to Colorado

Dawn Industries Inc. has acquired fellow irrigation products maker Hendrickson Bros. of Corona, Calif., and is moving the work and equipment to Dawn's headquarters plant in Arvada, Colo.

Hendrickson Bros. injection molds plastic products such as flow controls, pressure regulators, hose vacuum breakers and micro irrigation supplies for the agricultural, commercial and landscaping markets. The company, founded in 1970, is keeping its retail operation.

Dawn makes KwikConnect insert fittings for pressure-rated polyethylene pipe and agricultural drip pipe. Its "Kwik" product line includes seals, adaptors, cutting and splicing tools, and other accessories.

Gerri Murray, Dawn's sales director, said the move will boost and broaden the company's market presence. "With this acquisition, we look forward to strengthening our range" of products and services, Murray said in a June 24 letter to customers and suppliers.

The deal closed May 20. Hendrickson Bros. was represented in the transaction by plastics-focused investment banking firm Molding Business Services Inc., dba as MBS Advisors, in Florence, Mass.

Dawn itself was just acquired March 4 by micro irrigation product maker Antelco Pty. Ltd. of St. Agnes, Australia, which is related to Antelco Corp. of Longwood, Fla., and Antelco UK Ltd. of Leighton Buzzard, England.
